Add "in the bag" to your event
Dear Diabetes Summer Surge fundraiser,
This summer Clothesline® is offering donors an innovative way to contribute to Diabetes Summer Surge and the Canadian Diabetes Association. The Clothesline® “In the bag” program invites individuals or teams to plan a clothing drive, collect reusable clothing and in turn raise funds for Diabetes Summer Surge.
How to support Diabetes Summer Surge through the “in the bag” program:
- Register as an "in the bag" fundraiser
- Contact your local Clothesline® operation at 1-800-505-5525 informing them of your clothing drive (you will need to reside in a city where there is a Clothesline® operation. Please visit diabetes.ca/clothesline for a full listing).
- Determine a pick-up place and date / time for Clothesline® to come and pick up your bags of donated clothing.
- Print out the attached Clothesline® “in the bag” flyer and distribute throughout your community and with family / friends, informing participants of the date and time to bring their reusable clothing donations to your pre determined location.
- A Clothesline® driver will arrive at the designated location to pick-up and count the bags. For each bag of reusable clothing donated (standard 67L plastic bag), $3.00 will be donated to Diabetes Summer Surge.
- Once the amount is verified, Diabetes Summer Surge will receive the funding from the donated reusable clothing.
*Please note: Only clothing, cloth based items and shoes/boots are accepted for this event.
All proceeds from donations are used to support the Canadian Diabetes Association mission of leading the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while working to find a cure. Your generosity helps to support the more than 3 million Canadians living with diabetes.
Each year, Clothesline® diverts more than 41 million kilograms of clothing and household items from our landfills. This translates into a savings of 766 million kWh of energy and reduces our donors’ carbon footprint by 105 million kilograms of CO2 emissions. This energy savings is enough to power more than 42 thousand households for an entire year.
